چکیده

An information system, called HelioClim, is offered for answering the needs for long-term time-series of solar radiation data. These data originate from the processing of spaceborne observations made in the visible range by geostationnary satellites to derive solar radiation available at ground level. The recent method Heliosat 2 is used. It offers several improvements in operation and accuracy with respect to previous methods. Typical bias for irradiance for a month is 3 W m. A database is being produced, covering the Eastern Atlantic Ocean, Europe and Africa from 1985 onwards and for each day. This database is accessible through the SoDa service on a free basis (http://www.soda-is.com).

A New Database of Global and Direct Solar Radiation Using the Eastern Meteosat Satellite, Models and Validation

We present a new database of solar radiation at ground level for Eastern Europe and Africa, the Middle East and Asia, estimated using satellite images from the Meteosat East geostationary satellites. The method presented calculates global horizontal (G) and direct normal irradiance (DNI) at hourly intervals, using the full Meteosat archive from 1998 to present. Validation of the estimated globa...

HelioClim: a long-term database on solar radiation for Europe and Africa

An information system, called HelioClim, is available for answering the needs for long-term time-series of solar radiation data. Daily irradiation values are available over Europe, Africa and Atlantic Ocean, from 1985 onwards. This database is accessible through the Soda Web service (http://www.soda-is.com) on a free basis. Meteosat satellites images are used to produce this climatological data...

Solar ultraviolet radiation on the ground level of Isfahan

Introduction: Ultraviolet (UV) radiation affects human organs such as skin, eyes and immune system, as well as animals and plants. The main natural source of UV radiation is the Sun. To study the effects of solar UV radiation there is a need to quantify variations of solar energy received on the earth surface at different intervals. Materials and Methods: To measure UV radiation a broadband fib...

Estimating Solar Radiation and Developing Iran’s Atlas Map of Optimum Monthly Tilt Angle (TECHNICAL NOTE)

Iran has great potential in utilizing solar energy. In order to maximize the amount of absorbed solar radiation to absorber surfaces, the surfaces should be installed at a suitable angle slope to the horizon that is discussed in this article. The calculations performed in this study was done using MATLAB software. In this study, radiation received on the ground in 31 provincial capitals of the ...

Survey of the main databases providing solar radiation data at the ground level

Solar radiation at ground level is a necessary input for several applications such as primary production and agronomic related studies or potential solar energy assessments. The user needs consist generally in values of global daily or hourly irradiation with a spatial resolution of approximately 10 km. Relative errors (RMSE) of daily irradiation should be less than 20 %. Spatial coverage (cont...
